Obo Addy Collection

Obo Addy

You may be familiar with Ghanaian Master Drummer, Obo Addy. Obo, who many regard as the Grandfather of African Music in Portland passed away in 2012 after a long battle with cancer. After years in storage, his foundation is selling all of his personal and ensemble drums. Some of these drums (Obonu, Fontomfrom, Ewe, and Atumpani drums) are GIGANTIC sets designed and carved for ensembles.  We also have a number of Ghanaian xylophones or Gyils, as well as kpanlogo drums, bells, shakers, costumes, and props.

Please spread the word if you know any schools, colleges, universities, symphonies, or African drum and dance ensembles who are looking for master crafted instruments played over the decades by Obo himself!!

Celebrate the life of Obo, and take a piece of his amazing legacy home with you. This is a one time opportunity, as the drums, bells, shakers, xylophones and costumes will be available for sale only on a first come, first served basis. This list will be updated periodically as items are sold.
