Israel Annoh: "African Highlife and 6/8 applied to Funk" Drum Clinic
Monday, October 4th at 6:00 p.m.
Join us for our FREE "FIRST MONDAY" workshop series on Monday, October 4th at 6:00 pm. Israel Annoh will demonstrate both African highlife and 6/8 technique as it applies to Funk.

Born in Ghana, West Africa, Annoh's own style comes from jazz greats such as Max Roach, Cosy Cole, & Elvin Jones. In addition to jazz, Annoh is a specialist in percussion, and congas. He's played at the BBC studios in London, traveled through Africa, Europe, and the US. He's played with Highlife pioneer E.T. Mensah, Obo Addy, and the Ghana Broadcasting Orchestra. Currently, he drums for Michael Allan Harrison and Thara Memory. Space is limited, so arrive early.

Mark your calendar! Rhythm Traders is organizing the first annual Oregon Big Beat on November 7th, 2010. It will be the largest gathering of drummers in Oregon...EVER! The Big Beat is an event held in 15 cities around the country who simultaneously drum together. The event raises money for the Mr. Holland's Opus Foundation that helps bring instruments to kids in our local schools.

We are looking for volunteers to help us! We will need help in the following areas: venue, sponsorship & fundraising, marketing & promotion, registration, show production, artist liaison, logo (for t-shirt and merch. sales), tech (video link, web site, sound, video), and student reps. We also would like help in identifying a local charity to give to in addition to Mr. Holland's Opus.
